Learn how to become an instrument of peace through experiencing the didjeridu, which evokes an instant state of meditation and relaxation for both player and listener. In this workshop, we will be discussing the history of the didjeridu and why the Earth is calling so strongly for this medicine to be spread across the planet.
The didjeridu is the oldest known instrument, dating back at least 50,000 years. Before the Europeans visited Australia 200 years ago, this instrument was known only to the Aborigines of Australia. Now, at a time when the planet needs it most, it is found everywhere on Earth. At ceremonies or coroborees, the didjeridu provided musical accompaniment to dances, telling stories of creation.
The Aborigines have described the sound of the didjeridu as "re-creating
creation" through the continuous tone, insuring the cycles of life on Earth would continue to flourish in harmony. The Aborigines consider humans as caregivers of the Earth, as stewards of the planet. Playing the didjeridu is part of this continual prayer, reconnecting humans to the center of creation.
We will experience journeying with the didjeridu, and discuss the practical and mystical aspects of how to play, circular breathe, and use intention with focused sound.
