Bioacoustics in the Age of Sustainability
Through a Dog's Ear, a newly published book co-authored by Joshua Leeds (2008 Sounds True), explores the effect of the human soundscape on dogs. The book was written after a two year, double-phase clinical study on the effect of tempo and pattern on canines. This keynote address will include a presentation of findings; dogs entrain! Joshua also explores the fundamental question... are our dogs canines in the coalmine? Does the increase in physiological and behavioral problems in American dogs reflect the effect of high-tech frequencies on the biosphere? Presentation concludes with a look at the role of ethical soundwork in the age of sustainability.
